Potato wedges are a savory dish which is basically small chunks of potato that are usually wide and cut into slices and are fried or baked. Potato wedges are typically thick pieces of potato with the skins on one end left intact. They are typically flavoured and cooked in the oven.

Prior to actually cooking, these wedges are thoroughly flavored with pepper, garlic salt, and ground ginger, making them curiously and completely delicious.

Fascinating fact!

A common variant of potato wedges identified as jojos is traditional in some parts of the United States, especially Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northern Utah, Northeast Ohio, Wisconsin, and Upstate New York.

Jojo potatoes are a hallmark of Northeast Ohio. It was a specialty sold at the nearby best restaurants and was usually eaten with chicken wings and a serving of Spanish food.

It's speculated that the word Jojos was taken from the concept of "junk" because bits of the potatoes were called waste before marketers discovered they could be deep fried and made into fluffy, edible food.

Potato wedges are a famous pub snack in Australia, and they are usually accompanied with cream cheese and chilli sauce. Tomato sauce, country, and honey mustard are all options. They are usually flavoured with a number of herbs, most notably paprika, salt, and pepper.

Why do they taste so yummy?

Tangy wedges have flavours such as tomato, red pepper, herb, assorted spices, and so on that can be used to distinguish them. The batter comes next. This mostly brings out the crunchiness of the meal, but also adds to its inherent taste.

They're a little peppery, a little hot, and have a texture similar to mashed potatoes.

Biting into the wedge, in reaction to the immediate crunch, brings a sensation of moist food melting in your mouth. When the potato grains make contact with your taste receptors, they give them a big hug and coat them with the comfort of their sweetness.

Our tongues enjoy the sensory feeling of food that melts as soon as it comes in contact with our tongues. These wedges, that are sometimes fried and sometimes not, taste like rustic, real potatoes!

How they’re made for you!

Prior to actually frying, the fresh potato wedges are soaked in warm water for a few minutes. This move stimulates the starch in the potatoes and allows them to absorb moisture, resulting in firm exteriors and soft interiors. Garlic and onion powder turn potatoes into a more nuanced yet delicate taste.

After draining the vegetables, they are gently pat dry. The wedges are placed on a pan and glazed with oil. The onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and spice are then drizzled by our skilled chefs. The wedges are then cooked until they are beautifully brown, firm, and readily cut.
